Additionally, applicants must have qualified a national-level examination such as CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, JAM, JEST, or other recognised examinations conducted by central government departments and institutions.

The age limit is set at 28 years as of July 11, 2026, with relaxations provided for SC and ST candidates (five years) and OBC candidates (three years). Other relaxations will be considered as per government rules.

Selection Process and Job Details

The selection process involves a two-tier approach. First, candidates are shortlisted based on their academic performance, and then they are invited for an interview. The selected candidates will be appointed as Junior Research Fellows for an initial period of two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project requirements. The combined tenure of JRF and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) cannot exceed five years.

The monthly stipend for JRFs is Rs 37,000, while SRFs may receive Rs 42,000 per month. Additionally, House Rent Allowance (HRA) and medical benefits will be provided as per applicable rules.
